Play Out Tampa Bay

Play Out Tampa Bay offers you the unique opportunity to rehearse and perform alongside the remarkable musicians of The Florida Orchestra. Step into the world of a professional ensemble as you connect with musicians backstage, see your name on an official roster, and join the excitement of preparing for a full-scale concert. Whether you’re a student, a lifelong player, or returning to your instrument, this program invites you to take the stage and experience what it’s like to perform in a professional orchestra.

Registration Fees: $80 for community members, $40 for students, free for TFO Staff.
Scholarships are available upon request through the registration form.

Policies

  • Registrants must be 18 or older or a Senior in High School.
  • Registration is on a first-come first-serve basis.
  • Registration does not guarantee acceptance. Payment completion confirms your spot.
  • You may register for up to two instruments if your preferred instrument has been placed on a waitlist.
  • Refunds will only be honored up to December 11.
  • Auditions are required to sit in associate positions with principal string players. Please submit your registration and audition recording as soon as possible to reserve a seat. See the FAQs for audition requirements.

FAQ’s

Yes, registrants should be able to read music and play a standard orchestra instrument.

If you’d like to sit with an associate position string player, please submit the following through an unlisted YouTube link through the registration form.

  • 2 or 3 octave scale and arpeggio in a key of your choice
  • 3-5 minutes of a solo work with or without piano

Please title the YouTube video in this format: Name_Instrument_Piece

If auditioning for violin, please indicate Violin 1 or Violin 2.

Yes, both the rehearsal and the concert require attendance. Participation requires regular and punctual attendance at all rehearsals, absence at any required events may result in immediate dismissal from the program.

The seats for your instrument are currently full, but we encourage you to still register to be placed on the waitlist. Waitlisted registrants will be notified only if a seat opens up beginning on November 30th.

You will be notified by the beginning of January.

We will upload the music online five weeks before the first rehearsal.
