Mozart & Handel: Masterworks

Handel: Water Music Suites
Mozart: The Marriage of Figaro Overture
Haydn: Overture to The Uninhabited Island
Mozart: Ballet Music from Idomeneo

Invitation to the Dance: Handel’s festive Water Music is inspired by English country dances. GRAMMY-winning conductor Jeannette Sorrell, noted for her “revelatory” version of the Water Music (South Florida Classical Voice), brings out the rustic flair that this music was meant to have. Mozart’s ballet music from Idomeneo is also based on baroque dances a thrilling orchestral showpiece that is Mozart with a “baroque accent.”  A Sturm und Drang overture from Haydn and Mozart’s Overture to Marriage of Figaro round out this lively program.
