Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9: Masterworks
Mahler: Adagio from Symphony No. 10
Beethoven: Symphony No. 9 (Mahler arr.)
Experience the thrill and glory of this triumph of humanity. In this truly special event, Michael Francis conducts The Florida Orchestra and The Master Chorale of Tampa Bay in the supersized Mahler arrangement of Beethoven’s Ninth for an awe-inspiring Ode to Joy. The concert opens with the hauntingly beautiful Adagio from Mahler’s unfinished Symphony No. 10, a deeply emotional piece that showcases the composer’s late, poignant genius.
We’re full of surprises. Every Masterworks concert has a surprise inside – a short mystery piece that connects to the program in an unexpected way. Each one is Michael Francis’ little secret.
- Bridgewater Middle School Camerata, directed by Aaron Wiggins, Friday at the Straz Center.
- PCCA String Orchestra, directed by Rebekah Chambers, Sunday at the Mahaffey Theater.
