Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5: Masterworks

A centerpiece celebration of Michael Francis’ 10th season pairs two of the most famous openings in music: Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 and Richard Strauss’ Also sprach Zarathustra (Theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey) – one of the first works Maestro Francis ever conducted with TFO. This program will be the first time TFO performs the bigger, bolder Mahler arrangement of Beethoven’s iconic journey from darkness to light.

We’re full of surprises. Every Masterworks concert has a surprise inside – a short mystery piece that connects to the program in an unexpected way. Each one is Michael Francis’ little secret.
