Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6: Masterworks

Tchaikovsky packs a lot of emotion into his Sixth: “Without exaggeration, I have put my entire soul into this symphony.” It would become his requiem, a last will and testament of a composer whose music comes so directly from the heart. Recently named Young Artist of the Year at the Gramophone Awards, Stella Chen performs Barber’s Violin Concerto – lush and lyrical before finishing with a ride wild at breakneck speed. The evening begins with a meditative arrangement of Valentin Silvestrov’s Prayer for Ukraine. Earl Lee conducts.
