Dvorak’s New World Symphony: Masterworks

Brilliant violinist Julian Rachlin is both conductor and performer. He is joined by Sarah McElravy for Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, a poetic conversation between violin and viola. Rachlin conducts one of the most popular symphonies of all time, Dvorak’s great Symphony No. 9. Written and premiered in the “New World,” the work was influenced by Afro-American spirituals and folk music, for a distinctly American sound. Berlioz’s dashing Roman Carnival Overture rounds out the program.

Bonus! For every Masterworks concert, Michael Francis has personally chosen a surprise “mystery piece” to enhance your experience. What will it be this weekend?

Classical Kids & Teens: Kids and teens ages 5-18 get in free to all Masterworks concerts with Classical Kids tickets, thanks in part to the generous support of an anonymous donor.
