Composer Nobuo Uematsu coming to FINAL FANTASY concerts

For gamers, this is a big deal: Internationally revered FINAL FANTASY composer Nobuo Uematsu will attend both of The Florida Orchestra’s performances of Distant Worlds: music from FINAL FANTASY® coming up in just weeks at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg. This is Uematsu’s first time attending concerts in Florida.

Want to meet him? Both concerts will have a limited number of separate VIP Experience meet-and-greet tickets for sale for $50 each, starting at 2 pm today (Dec. 4). Concerts are Friday, Jan. 26, at 8 pm, and Sunday, Jan. 28, at 2 pm at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg. Here’s how it works:

  1. Buy a concert ticket. They are $25, $35, $50, $60, $75 and $95 and may be purchased online at floridaorchestra.org; by phone at 727.892.3337 or 1.800.662.7286; and at The Florida Orchestra Ticket Center. Already have a concert ticket? Skip to Step 2.
  2. The separate VIP Experience add-on is available only online: click here for the Jan 26 VIP Experience or click here for the Jan 28 VIP Experience. Or go to the Distant Worlds: music from FINAL FANTASY concert page at FloridaOrchestra.org and click on the VIP Experience links. Note: You cannot get into the Mahaffey for the meet-and-greet without a concert ticket. Also, ticketholders may only purchase the VIP Experience that corresponds to the date on their concert ticket.
  3. With the VIP Experience, you can have one item autographed and take one photo with Uematsu and Grammy-winning conductor Arnie Roth after the concert.

This is the second time The Florida Orchestra has performed a Distant Worlds: music from FINAL FANTASY® concert in recent years, but this one is a little different version, combining new repertoire with 30 years of classics from the FINAL FANTASY video game franchise. Popular characters will come to life on the big screen in stunning high definition as The Florida Orchestra performs live, under the baton of Roth. Of course, cosplay is welcome! Merchandise will be on sale before the concert and at intermission.

Nobuo Uematsu is one of the most celebrated composers in the video game field. He has achieved global recognition for his work on the FINAL FANTASY series that has been performed by world-class orchestras around the world. He also has been recognized as a major contributor in the increasing appreciation and awareness of video game music.
