The Rite of Spring

The concert opens with Messiaen’s symphonic meditation Le offrandes oubliées (The Forgotten Offerings)...followed by the raw energy and breath-taking beauty of nature with the surging seas of sound in Debussy’s La Mer.  The evening concludes with the pagan-intoned orchestral power of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. Tito Munoz conducts.

Mahler's Symphony No. 1,

Mahler said, “A symphony must be like the world. It must contain everything.” And his Symphony No. 1, “Titan,” seems to call out and invite the listener to contemplate life’s many beauties as well as its heartbreaks. The concert also includes John Adams’ Chamber Symphony with its mix of wit, humor and rapid-fire challenging passages. Tito Muñoz conducts.
